Nicole StoopsI hired John to train our family dog soon after arriving in Tucson, when my husband, Mike, took over as head football coach for the University of Arizona. I was very pleased with the training instruction and the immediate results that has made our dog, Joey, a wonderful joy. |
Bill & Calahan
John: Just wanted to let you know Calahan is an outstanding German Shepherd Dog. In the last eleven months since starting training with the Sarasota K-9 Search and Rescue team, Calahan has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate and has been certified as a Pet Therapy dog. His hunt and play drives are very strong, which are assets in search and rescue work. Calahan learns quickly and wants to please in all ways. Thank you for introducing Calahan and I two years ago. Being a former Military Working Dog handler, I can say that Calahan is excellent "partner" and pet. Keep up the great work with breeding these outstanding animals. |

Calahan is now two years old and a handsome devil. I have attached a couple photos taken around the first of December, just prior to participating in the Venice Christmas Parade. It was his first parade and he did well. I am planning to have his hips X-rayed before I make any decisions about his sex life. He will be fixed eventually, as I want him focused on his SAR job and not other scents. He is a good dog and a great partner.

PaulI started obedience and protection training my German Shepherd dog with John when I moved to Tucson three years ago and have continued off and on ever since. John is a professional trainer who gets results and can raise your dogs obedience to the highest levels. Whether it’s basic obedience or more advanced training, I would recommend John to anyone who expects the best, no matter what level of training you want to achieve with your dog. Thanks, Paul |

Pat & Sailor
In September of 2003, I found a lost/abandoned dog that was severely dehydrated and malnourished. With some help from my husband, I was able to coax the dog over to me and brought him home. During a health check visit, my veterinarian informed me that I had found a Catahoula Leopard dog, a breed I never heard of. We named him, Sailor. After a week or so of food and water, Sailor began to demonstrate behavior that was aggressive and potentially dangerous towards people, other dogs and just about anything that moved. Sailor was a dominant dog who obviously never had any training. I am sure the neighbors (as did I) thought he was psychotic.

This was a big problem not only for the obvious reasons related to safety, but I already had four large dogs and I really didn’t know how to help Sailor and keep the pets I had, safe. I called the various local dog shelters who stated that Sailor would not be an option for adoption due to his behavior problems (they don’t have the resources to correct serious behavior issues) and he would be euthanized. I knew I had to at least try to do what I could to help Sailor, so I signed him up for “dog training” with a “reputable” company. After eight weeks and literally hundreds of dollars, Sailor was still lunging at cars, people, dogs, and any and all moving objects. But, I just couldn’t give up on him because in spite of his difficulties, I could see that he wanted so much to understand and please us. So I did something I never do, I prayed for help. The very next day, I saw John’s advertisement in the newspaper and called him. I told him about Sailor’s behavior and the methods of correcting it that we had already tried. |
John scheduled an evaluation meeting. I remember how hopeful I was after the meeting when he told me that he could teach me the handling tools I needed to help Sailor. Importantly, John also said what I have always felt that “there is no such thing as a bad dog” but rather poor handling skills. So I started my “handling training” with Sailor. In just THREE lessons, I saw a significant change in Sailor’s behavior. The confidence and training I received from John helped to rehabilitate Sailor from an aggressive, potentially dangerous dog to an obedient, happy and eager to please companion who is a lot of fun and for that, I am extremely grateful. Sailor looks forward to “my” training lessons and he continues to advance through the levels of obedience.
Thank You, Pat
KarenJohn has helped me train 2 of my dogs in obedience and personal protection. I recommend John as a dog trainer because he understands that every dog has its own unique personality and that all dogs can not be trained using the same method. He is great at determining what is the best training method for a dog. John is very knowledgeable in all aspects of dog training from novice to personal protection and I would recommend him. |
